The Roscongress Foundation – a socially oriented non-financial development institution and a major organizer of international conventions; exhibitions; and sporting, public, and cultural events.

The Foundation was established in 2007 with the aim of facilitating the development of Russia’s economic potential, promoting its national interests, and strengthening the country’s image. One of the roles of the Foundation is to comprehensively evaluate, analyse, and cover issues on the Russian and global economic agendas. It also offers administrative services, provides promotional support for business projects and attracting investment, and helps foster social entrepreneurship and charitable initiatives.

Each year, the Foundation’s events draw participants from 208 countries and territories, with more than 15,000 media representatives working on-site at Roscongress’ various venues. The Foundation benefits from analytical and professional expertise provided by 2,500 people working in Russia and abroad. In addition, it works in close cooperation with 122 economic partners; industrialists’ and entrepreneurs’ unions; and financial, trade, and business associations from 69 countries worldwide.

The 10th Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona, Italy, was held on 19–20 October 2017. The annual business event was organized by the Conoscere Eurasia Association, the Roscongress Foundation, and the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The theme of the 2017 Forum in Verona was ‘Greater Eurasia as a driving force in the current international geopolitical and economic context’.

The event was attended by more than 1,100 delegates from Russia, Italy, Germany, the USA, Greece, France, Austria, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Estonia, South Korea, India, Kazakhstan, China, Belarus, and other states. The Forum featured 84 speakers: representatives of government agencies, business circles, political and public figures, and diplomats.

Participants in the business programme’s discussions included prominent political figures such as Secretary of the Council of Ministers Maria Elena Boschi, Permanent Representative of Russia to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov, Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia Nikolay Asaul, Secretary of State of the Union State of Russia and Belarus Grigory Rapota, Vice Minister for International Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Hirofumi Katase, the President of the Foundation for World Wide Cooperation and Prime Minister of Italy 1996–1998, 2006–2008 Romano Prodi, as well as Chairman of the Board of Directors, Rosneft and Chancellor of Germany 1998–2005 Gerhard Schröder, Mayor of Verona Federico Sboarina, and others.

The Forum also featured presentations by representatives of large businesses, such as: the CEO of Rosneft Igor Sechin, Chairman of NOVATEK Leonid Mikhelson, Managing Director of SWAN Insights and Group Director of Big Data Analytics at Bisnode Marcus Hartmann, CEO of Glencore International Ivan Glasenberg, CEO of Trafigura Jeremy Weir, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Pirelli Marco T. Provera, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bosco di Ciliegi Mikhail Kusnirovich, President of Compagnia di San Paolo Francesco Profumo and many others.

The discussions touched on issues such as new projects, models for government collaboration and economic cooperation in the modern day, the development of innovation infrastructure in Greater Eurasia, and cooperation in the energy, industrial, technology, transport, agriculture and agribusiness sectors. Also considered were the issues of shaping the geopolitical situation in Eurasia and opportunities for international interregional cooperation. It was noted that innovation is the main driver of long-term growth and change in the global economy and that establishing dialogues between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union on the topics of political and economic cooperation is of particular importance.

The 11th Eurasian Economic Forum will be held in October 2018.
