Russian national helpline: 8 800 200 3411

Launched on 18 March 2020 under the name «In this together», the helpline aims to support and coordinate assistance for people over the age of 60 who are self-isolating due to the spread of COVID-19. It is a joint initiative by the All-Russia People’s Front, the Roscongress Foundation, the Association of Volunteer Centres, the nationwide Medical Volunteers movement, Volunteers for the Constitution, and Rostelecom..

The helpline operates 24 hours a day, taking calls from across Russia from elderly people and people with limited mobility.

From hotline to information centre

After two months of tireless operations, the line has been transformed into a fully-fledged information centre encompassing over 10 focus areas:

  • requests for grocery, medicine and pet food deliveries, utilities and housing payments, rubbish collection;
  • requests for assistance for medical workers in the fight against the spread of coronavirus;
  • advice on issues such as supporting families with children, obtaining loan repayment holidays, settling work disputes and returning to Russia from abroad;
  • psychological help and spiritual guidance.

Since 18 March the number of calls made to the hotline has exceeded 2.9 million, with over 1,000 000 requests for assistance submitted.

Оver 200 Roscongress Foundation specialists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok and Sochi where the organization holds international events each year, have been involved in the project. The Foundation, which has many years’ experience working with volunteers, invited them to join the team and received over 150 responses. There are now over 50 volunteers operating the hotline.

After each conversation, the hotline operators file reports evaluating the main problems citizens are currently facing and record the types of issues being raised.

The Roscongress Foundation and the All-Russia People’s Front recently signed a cooperation agreement, making Roscongress the general partner for organizing and coordinating the «In this together» 24 hour national helpline.

This is a time when businesses, non-profits, volunteer centres, and associations need to come together to help and support those in need. I firmly believe that this joint initiative to set up a nationwide helpline, involving close collabotation and clear coordination with the All-Russia People’s Front, will today enable us to process and act upon all requests made by elderly people from across the Russian Federation.

By collaborating with the Roscongress Foundation, we have made it possible to take calls from elderly people 24 hours a day. That is very important to us.

Joining our project

People living in Russia today are required to self-isolate due to the ongoing pandemic. This can be particularly tough for older people who often find themselves in what amounts to enforced solitude. Amid a glut of news and without access to a reliable source of information, these people are sometimes unable to even contact relatives, buy food, or get much-needed medication.

However, the more dedicated and caring people there are among us, the more we will be able to help, and the faster we’ll be able to return to normality.

And helping people is easy!

Supporting the project

As a socially oriented non-financial development institution, the Roscongress Foundation is committed to supporting the helpline. On 13 April, the Foundation held an online charity concert featuring Uma2rman.

And you can play a part, too!

What Will COVID-19 Mean for LNG?
Already grappling with a supply glut in liquefied natural gas (LNG), global gas companies face fresh challenges due to two seismic events: the COVID-19 pandemic and the global oil price shocks. Together, these developments are set to deepen and lengthen the current imbalance between supply and demand in LNG markets, leading to a lower-for-longer price environment. As a result, up to 8% of global LNG demand could be at risk (more than 25 million tonnes per annum, or MTPA) in the near term while the low-price environment could last another one to two years.
